Welcome to Southern Oral & Facial Surgery
A first visit can feel like a big step, but our care team is here to make it feel easy. From the moment you walk in, we’re here to help you feel comfortable and ready for what comes next.
How We Can Help
While tooth extractions are some of our most common procedures, every case is unique. Our board-certified surgeons bring extensive training to both simple and complex extractions, drawing on advanced imaging and modern surgical techniques to make your experience as smooth as possible.
You’ll be cared for by a team that takes the time to understand your situation, explain your options, and answer any questions before treatment begins. From your first consultation through your recovery, you’ll know exactly what to expect.
What to Expect
A Warm Welcome
When you step inside our office, a member of our front desk team will greet you, check you in, and make sure you feel settled. If you’d like a quick look around the office or have any questions about the building, just ask, we’re happy to help you feel at home.
A Thorough Oral Health Evaluation
Once you’re comfortable, you’ll meet with your surgeon to talk through what brought you in. Together, you’ll review your medical and dental history, discuss any concerns you’ve been carrying, and walk through your goals. Your surgeon will then perform a careful examination of your teeth, gums, jaw, and surrounding structures. If imaging is needed, we’ll use 3D scans or X-rays to get a clearer picture of what’s going on.
Our Experience
Every surgeon at Southern Oral & Facial Surgery is board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Many of our doctors hold both dental and medical degrees, giving them a uniquely thorough understanding of how your oral health connects to your overall wellbeing. With more than two decades of caring for Middle Tennessee patients, our team brings deep experience to everything from routine extractions to advanced implant cases.
Patient Comfort and Safety
Your comfort is shaped by every detail of your visit—from the cozy design of the waiting area to the precision of the technology in the operatory. We utilize advanced 3D imaging, virtual surgical planning, and modern sedation options to keep procedures as gentle as possible. Strict infection control protocols and sterile surgical spaces are part of everything we do, so you can focus on healing while we focus on the care.

Common Questions About Your First Visit
A few things patients often ask before their first appointment with us.
Most first visits run about an hour, though the exact length depends on your situation. You’ll spend time meeting your surgeon, sharing your health history, getting any needed imaging, and reviewing your options together. We never want this part of your care to feel rushed, so we set aside enough time for real conversation and any questions you’d like to talk through.
Plan to bring a photo ID, your insurance card, and a list of medications you currently take. If your dentist or another provider referred you, any X-rays, scans, or notes they shared will be helpful too. If you’ve completed your forms through our patient portal ahead of time, you’ll save a few minutes at check-in and have more time to focus on your visit.
Of course. Many of our patients bring a spouse, parent, friend, or other trusted person along, especially for the consultation. Having someone there to listen, take notes, or just keep you company can make the experience feel easier.
