Dr. Anthony M. Lotesto was born and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. He later began his higher education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2008, completing his Bachelor’s degree in molecular and cell biology with university honors in 2012. Between his time in undergraduate and dental school, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy. After completing his Bachelor’s degree, he moved to the city for dental school at the University of Illinois at Chicago. During his studies, he was active in several organizations, including: the American Student Dental Association, Delta Sigma Delta Fraternity, and the oral surgery honors program. In 2016, he graduated at the top of his class, earning his doctorate in dental medicine. He then matched with the Medical University of South Carolina for his residency training. It was time for Dr. Lotesto to move south.

Growing up in the Midwest, Charleston, South Carolina, was a change of scenery and lifestyle for him. Even with the long hours of residency, he enjoyed time outdoors and especially on the water. He learned to love the southern way of life. He met his wife, Cayleigh, in Charleston, and they married in 2020. At the end of his residency, he was stationed to return to Chicago at Naval Station Great Lakes. After 6 weeks of officer development training in Newport, Rhode Island, he began his naval career in August of 2020. He currently serves as a naval officer and oral and maxillofacial surgeon with Great Lakes Dental Partners where he treats over 40,000 recruits a year. His scope of practice in the Navy ranges from wisdom teeth removal, dental implants, pathology, reconstruction, trauma and corrective jaw surgery. He enjoys meeting new people, engaging with the recruits and developing surgical and leadership skills daily. He was recently promoted to Lieutenant Commander, and is grateful he has the opportunity to serve the military family and the United States of America.

In January of 2021, he challenged and passed the first part of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons examination. The following February, he challenged the oral component of the exam, and became officially board certified. He continues the extensive requirements to maintain his certification. He thoroughly enjoys his profession, as it allows him to meet patients and provide them with exceptional, comfortable care. He focuses intently on patient safety, comfort and ideal outcomes to bring people precisely what they need from a surgical perspective. Whether it is wisdom tooth removal, dental implant surgery, pathology or full mouth reconstruction, it is Dr. Lotesto’s top priority that patients have the greatest experience and excellent results.

In his free time, he keeps many hobbies. He enjoys biking and walking with his dog Sully, traveling with his wife – with whom he is expecting their first child in August of 2022. He enjoys exercise, playing musical instruments and developing his skills as an amateur barbecue cook. He is also active in local dental organizations. Dr. Lotesto and his wife are ecstatic to start a family and become a first-time parents. Both he and his wife are eagerly looking to beginning their journey in Nashville, Tennessee soon. In fact, it is the place they both dreamed of moving to begin a new chapter of life in music city.
