Dr. Rachel Strait was born and raised in Gulf Breeze, Florida. She spent an incredible amount of time perfecting her skills in oral surgery and patient care. Dr. Strait is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon that specializes in acute dental emergencies, dental implants and other oral and maxillofacial services. She treats each patient’s case thoroughly and individually, allowing her the skillset to carefully treat the oral surgery needs of the patient. Dr. Strait’s top priority is the well-being of each patient and to deliver only best long-term result.
Education & Residency
When it was time to pursue higher education, she explored campuses across the country. It was then she discovered the campus of Vanderbilt University and fell in love with the city of Nashville, TN, Vanderbilt and the community. She knew this was where she wanted to be and moved to Nashville in 2008 to begin her studies. Dr. Strait acclimated into the Nashville lifestyle seamlessly by connecting with the Vanderbilt Oral Surgery program.
She began her education with Vanderbilt University earning her undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering in 2012. She then attended The University of Alabama Birmingham dental school program, earning her Doctorate in Dental Medicine in 2016. She knew after dental school she wanted to return to Nashville for her medical school and residencies.
She spent the next four years at Vanderbilt University Medical School followed by two years of residency, finishing with the title of Chief Resident. After 14 years of higher education and hands-on training, she earned her current credentials: Dr. Rachel Strait, DMD, MD.
In addition to the time dedicated to her dental and medical education, she supports the Nashville community by volunteering her expertise with Interfaith Dental Clinic. The clinic provides comprehensive and emergency dental services for low-income, uninsured individuals who need help with dental care.
Interests
Dr. Strait married her husband in 2015, whom she was classmates with during dental school. He is now a dentist himself, also serving the community through Interfaith Dental Clinic.
She has traveled to six continents. She loves to experiment with cooking Japanese and Korean dishes but enjoys returning to her Italian roots when it comes to cuisine. Dr. Strait also practices martial arts, and as a result of training in different styles, has earned three black belts.
Dr. Rachel Strait joined the team at Southern Oral and Facial surgery in 2022. In the field of Oral Maxillofacial surgery, she specializes in tooth extractions and dental implants, pathology and orthognathic treatments.
