About Dr. Young

Dr. Sean Young is proud to call Nashville home. Based on his interests in science, health care, and serving others, a career in dentistry was an easy choice. He enjoys working with dental colleagues in the community to provide the highest level of patient care and comfort.

Dr. Young finds the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery extremely rewarding. He loves getting to know people and helping them improve their lives—sometimes in a big way. Dr. Young understands that your smile affects the way you live, and he enjoys helping patients restore their teeth and regain their confidence. He is committed to treating his patients like he would his own family.

Education & Residency

After majoring in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Utah, Dr. Young moved to Los Angeles to attend the UCLA School of Dentistry. He was the recipient of numerous academic scholarships and graduated with honors, earning a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 2008. Following dental school, Dr. Young earned a medical degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine alongside his oral surgery training.

Dr. Young completed his residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2014. During his training, Dr. Young presented clinical research at national and international meetings and published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals. He also co-authored a chapter on alveolar cleft repair in the textbook Complete Cleft Care, published in 2014 by Thieme Medical Publishers.

Certifications

After finishing his training, Dr. Young chose to pursue board certification. As a surgeon certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, he is held to the highest standards. Dr. Young maintains his board certification by meeting annual requirements that demonstrate his knowledge and skill in the specialty of oral surgery.

Interests

Dr. Young and his family are happy to call Nashville home. He is an avid trail runner, and he enjoys cooking and spending time with his family.
