About Dr. Bailey
Dr. Thomas Bailey was born in the heart of the country music scene in Nashville, Tennessee and grew up in Paducah, Kentucky. His parents’ closest friends were dentists, and he was exposed to the dental field throughout his upbringing. He shadowed both dentists and oral surgeons and knew that becoming an oral surgeon was what he wanted to do in life, as it provided him the opportunity to help others while practicing in a medical field that he absolutely loved.
Dr. Bailey met the doctors of Southern Oral & Facial Surgery during his residency at Vanderbilt. From there, they established meaningful professional relationships and are eager to learn from one another and serve members of the community through this practice. He strives to create a relaxing environment where patients can feel comfortable and receive excellent compassionate care.
Dr. Bailey earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Kentucky in 2010 and graduated summa cum laude. This is also where he met his wife Margaret, a native of Springfield, Kentucky. He finished dental school in 2014, earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Louisville, where he graduated summa cum laude. Dr. Bailey received multiple accolades in dental school, including the ASDA Award of Excellence, student senate leadership award, Pierre Fauchard Academy Foundation award, ADA/Densply clinical research award, Quintessence Award, James C. Moore physiology award, and was awarded as the top student in head and neck anatomy, histology, and microbiology.
Following dental school, Dr. Bailey completed his 4-year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program at Vanderbilt University, where he gained hands-on oral surgery experience in a hospital setting.
Outside of work, Dr. Bailey loves spending time in the great outdoors. He can be found biking, running, or spending time with his wife and three children.
