Over the past two weeks, our team has been caring for dozens of patients with urgent and emergent dental needs in an effort to do our part to support patients and prevent unnecessary dental visits to hospital emergency rooms. We have been closely following guidelines from the White House, the American Dental Association, the Tennessee Dental Association, and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
We are grateful for the encouragement we have received from patients and our dental and medical colleagues as we focus on treating dental emergencies. We are overwhelmed by the response of understanding and grace from patients who have had their non-urgent treatment postponed since March 16. We hope that we can safely return to our normal schedule to meet all of the oral surgery needs of our community in due time.
This week, Governor Bill Lee issued an Executive Order for our state to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 by suspending non-essential medical and dental treatment until at least April 13. In keeping with the previous guidelines and the new statewide order, we are currently available to patients only for the management of emergent oral surgery needs or for the treatment of pain, swelling, trauma, or an abscess.
We feel it is a privilege to be first responders for dental emergencies during this challenging time. Our goal continues to be to protect you, our community, and our work family from the spread of COVID-19. May we all work together to “stop the spread.”
If you are experiencing a dental emergency, please call us at (615) 591-0919 or (615) 224-2479. If you are unable to reach your regular dentist for a dental emergency outside of oral surgery care, we can connect you with one of several trusted dentists available in our community.
