Save Lives by Becoming a Blood Donor This Summer
Volunteering to donate blood this month is the best way to give back to your community. Lifesaving treatment and care depend on a steady supply of blood from healthy donors like you, and the best way to begin volunteering as a blood donor is to donate during the summer months when donations are not as abundant. Did you know that blood donations decline by more than 30 percent in the summertime? If just an additional one percent of Americans started to give blood regularly, we would not have to worry about blood shortages in our country.
Donating takes only 8–10 minutes but makes an enormous impact. One blood donation can save three lives, and every two seconds in America, a life is saved by donated blood! In fact, 4.5 million Americans are saved annually by blood transfusions — and there is no substitute for blood!
The oral surgeons of Southern Oral & Facial Surgery, H. Daniel Clark, DDS, MD, Sean Young, DDS, MD, and Brad Lewallen, DDS, MD, have partnered with the American Red Cross to host a Community Blood Drive to help save lives in our community and around the country. The American blood supply depends entirely on volunteers, so be a lifesaver this summer by donating at our upcoming blood drive.
All donors will receive snacks and a free coupon for a haircut at Sport Clips! Also, all donors will be added to a raffle to win fun prizes. Donors who sign up between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. will receive a free catered lunch!
